Legacy Port Stephens Charity Day Success

Nelson Bay Golf Club was proud to host the Legacy Port Stephens Charity Golf Day on Monday, March 3rd. The event raised over $20,000 to support Legacy's vital work in our local community!

A special thanks to John Morgan, the Event Coordinator, and the organising committee for their efforts in delivering such a successful day. The committee shared glowing feedback, praising the course presentation, delicious catering, and exceptional service provided by staff across all areas of the club. The dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude of everyone involved played a key role in the event's outstanding success.

Below is an extract from a thank you email we received from John Morgan:

"All credit to Nelson Bay Golf Club. The thing that struck me personally and something that I want to bring to the attention of the Board was that nothing was an issue with any of the staff involved.  They bent over backwards to provide assistance to me and the organising committee.  This attitude and commitment to Nelson Bay Golf Club contributed to the outstanding success the day was."

We look forward to welcoming Legacy Port Stephens back in 2026 and thank all those who contributed to supporting such an important cause.

Volunteer Appreciation - NSW Senior Amateur

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to assist during the NSW Senior Amateur Championship. Your dedication and support played a vital role in the success of the event, helping us showcase our course and provide a warm welcome to all competitors.

Competition Multi Tee Options

During January, we trialed a multi tee option (women red and purple, men blue and white) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday comp days. It was soon evident from member feedback that there was a need for additional tee options, for example, men's red and women's white. Golf NSW have recently rated all our tee options for both men and women.

From now on, we will offer multiple tee options on any competition day except for Monthly Medals, Club Championships, and other nominated trophy events. Black Tees will be available on occasion, TBA only. The default tees for the competitions will remain blue (men) and red (women). Please advise the Pro Shop should you wish to play off another tee for the day.

MiScore App Features

MiScore regularly announces new features, and here is a handy favourite that is recommended.

3 Minute Lost Ball Timer

A lost ball timer is available to assist with the pace of play. Once activated, it will engage a 3-minute countdown clock. Select the Round Timer in the top left-hand corner, and the new 3-minute timer will commence to assist in keeping track of time in search of a lost golf ball.

Reminders

Driving Range

Members are advised to only hit balls up to a maximum distance of 160m. We also request that Members avoid hitting when fellow golfers collect golf balls or golf carts are being driven on the practice fairway. Ensuring the safety of Members and reducing the risk of errant golf balls are the Club's priorities. Thanks for your cooperation.

Alcohol

This is a reminder to all members that our Clubhouse and Golf Course are licensed premises. Alcohol consumed on site must be purchased from the bar or Pro Shop. We ask all members to cease bringing their own alcoholic beverages.

Booking Member Social Rounds

With 27 holes to enjoy, we are fortunate to offer a variety of playing opportunities. Managing the daily tee sheets around competition play, member social rounds, group bookings, and visitor play is often a balancing act.

To help us prepare for daily traffic and ensure we know who is on course and where they are likely to be, we kindly request that all members book their 9 or 18-hole rounds online before arriving at the Club.

Our social tee sheets are accessible online at all times, making it easy to manage your booking from your phone or home - helping avoid disappointment and ensuring a smooth experience for everyone.

Meet the Team

Hi, my name is Nick. I have been working at Nelson Bay Golf Club for over 10 years between reception/admin and the Pro Shop. I have been a member since I was 15 years old. I enjoy being a part of the club and interacting with both the members and visitors we have come through. One thing most people don’t know about me is that I was a drummer in a band that toured between Newcastle and Sydney.

What the stake!!?

White stake with red painted top

Extract from "Temporary Local Rules" which can be found on the Club Notice Board or in the MiScore App. The RH edge of the practice fairway is marked by white stakes with red tops set along the drip line of the trees separating the practice area from the first fairway thereby designating the practice fairway as a No Play Zone (NPZ) not a Penalty Area

Suppose you and your playing partner reasonably believe your ball has crossed into this NPZ. In that case, free relief MUST be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1b adjacent to the nearest white, red topped, stake to where your ball actually is or is likely to have crossed the margin of the NPZ. Your original ball or another ball may be used without penalty
