Dear Members, Nelson Bay Golf Club is proud to celebrate two outstanding staff achievements at the 2025 NSW Golf Industry Awards, held at the Shangri-La Sydney last night, amongst a crowd of 350 peers from the NSW Golf Industry. Our Course Superintendent, Greg Stynes, was awarded the Environment Award by the NSW Golf Course Superintendents Association. This prestigious award recognises Greg’s exceptional leadership in environmental management, sustainability, and innovation. Greg’s vision has transformed our course into a benchmark for environmental excellence — protecting wildlife, improving water efficiency through nanobubble technology, and fostering biodiversity. As well as his leadership through a particularly difficult wet winter. Greg was a nominated finalist against some worthy contenders: Anthony Mills (The Lakes GC) and Adam Marchant (Royal Sydney GC). Our Director of Golf, Duard Nel, received the Future Leader in Management Award from Golf Management Australia (GMA). Duard is recognised for his innovation, leadership, and commitment to excellence for both our members and visiting golfers. Duard’s guidance has modernised the Golf Shop, introduced new systems and efficiencies, and enhanced member engagement through digital transformation, maximised financial growth and enhanced a number of grassroots golf programs at our Club. Duard was nominated against a close friend of his, Craig Stickling, from the NSW Golf Club. These achievements are especially significant given the challenging weather conditions faced over the past season. Heavy rainfall and prolonged wet periods tested the limits of course management and operations. Greg and Duard worked tirelessly to keep the course playable, implementing new drainage solutions, mapping alternate playing routes, and maintaining course standards under extremely difficult conditions. Their adaptability, communication, and teamwork ensured that members and guests could continue to enjoy the course safely and consistently. On behalf of our Board of Directors and our members, we congratulate Greg and Duard on their well-deserved success and thank them for continuing to make Nelson Bay Golf Club a leader in our industry and community.
Kind regards, David Lulham General Manager |
