Warren awarded 30-year PGA Australia Membership!

On Tuesday, 1 July, Warren was invited to the NSW/ACT Annual State Member Forum at Castle Hill CC, where his 30-year PGA Australia Membership was celebrated among peers. What a fabulous Milestone, congratulations, Warren!

Nelson Bay Golf Club has been fortunate to have enjoyed your professionalism and wonderful service to members over many years. True to Warren’s nature,  he is looking forward to the next 30 years of his career. He’ll continue to motivate and inspire current golfers and strive to keep growing the game. 

Golf Shop Renovation

The work on the new Golf Shop is progressing smoothly, with the flooring and cabinetry now complete. Our staff will begin fitting out the new shop with merchandise, with our opening scheduled for Wednesday, 16 July!

Thank you to all our members for their patience during this renovation period. We look forward to welcoming you all to our new shop.

Membership Renewals

Our Administration Team is busy reconciling membership renewals, and we expect this to be complete by July 15. Our membership is in a strong position as Full Membership will remain at capacity for this upcoming Membership year, with the waiting list and joining fee to continue. We have been able to transfer 14 Provisional Members to Full Playing and are in the process of transferring members on the waiting list to Provisional Members if vacancies are available. Any members who have not yet paid their subscriptions, we strongly urge you to contact reception@nelsonbaygolf.com.au to avoid being resigned from membership at Nelson Bay Golf Club.

R&A Rules Qualification

Ideal for rainy days!

We would like to remind Members interested in receiving their R&A Rules accreditation to complete the online Rules Academy level 1 module. This should take roughly an hour of your time. R&A Rules Level 2 module will be presented at Nelson Bay Golf Club on the 3rd & 4th of September 2025. A prerequisite for this course is that everyone attending must have completed the R&A Level 1 course and achieved a minimum of 75% in the exam. Junior Golf News

Ava Jones was awarded a pair of Footjoy Shoes donated by the Australian Golf Foundation. Ava is a great sport. Not only does she portray a fantastic attitude and continuous commitment to improving her game, but she also supports and motivates the younger girls in the group. Well done, Ava! 

Every quarter, the coaches nominate two juniors to receive the Brian & Warren Diemar award for commitment and aptitude. Harper Southall and Hudson Morrison were our two very deserving recipients recently. The juniors would like to thank The Dirty Dozen member group for donating the prizes and for their continuous support of our junior programs.

Pennant Update

The C Grade Pennant team opened their 2025 season last Sunday with a 5.5/0.5 win over Karuah at Hawks Nest,

Bob Connor 7/6, Michael Trigas Sq., Kim Buckmaster 2/1, Mark Twomey 7/6, Ian Sandy 6/5 and Michael Zorcic 2/1.

This week they played Hawks Nest at Muree and came away with a hard-fought 4/2 win.

P. Sinclair 1/3, B. Connor 4/6, M. Trigas 6/4, M.Twomey 1 up, I. Sandy 3/1 and P. Courts 4/2.

B Grade Pennant had a bye in round 1. Sunday 6 July Nelson Bay V Tanilba Bay at Pacific Dunes results will be available on Monday.

The Master Pennants team concluded their season with a commendable 3rd place finish on the ladder, securing 2.5 wins from 4 matches. Their season included a decisive 6–2 victory over Merewether, a challenging 7–1 loss to Newcastle, a solid 5–3 win against Shortland, and a washout against Hawks Nest. The team was led by Captain Peter Gibson and featured key players R. Barker, C. Fallan, P. Phegan, D. Hogan, S. Quin, D Warder, C. Mackenzie, A. Williams, and W. Semmens. David Hogan was recognised as the team's Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance throughout the season. 

Super Seniors Pennant commences on 14 July. The team, led by Al Daubaras as Captain, is as follows:

Dave Warder, Peter Sutton, Graham Allen, Peter Fulton, Jim Ball, Chris Mawson, Peter Mentis, Jim Papworth, Craig McKenzie, Wayne Finney, Neil Edwards and Manager - Al Daubaras
